Students can experience many transitions during their time in university. For instance, when they start university, move between different levels of their course and when they finish their studies. We commissioned a project to explore the skills and strategies that a student might develop and use during a transition, or period of change.

The Project

The aim of the project was to provide students and staff with resources to support them in understanding transitions. The resources can help staff and students learn about transition skills and how to encourage and develop them.

The resources cover the following transition skills:

  • Self-belief (self-efficacy)
  • Self-management of expectations
  • Critical self-reflection
  • Academic resilience
  • Mindset
  • Time management.

For convenience, we have grouped the resources together for each intended audience group.
