Keynote Speaker confirmed for 3rd International Enhancement Conference: Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi

Professor Mushtak Al-AtabiIn the run up to our International Enhancement Conference we are featuring a series of speaker profiles and are delighted to confirm Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi as our latest keynote. Professor Al-Atabi will join Professor Peter Felten (Elon University), Professor Elspeth Jones (Leeds Beckett University) and others to engage participations in discussion and the sharing of creative ideas and solutions on a range of topics currently challenging g the higher education sector. Professor Al-Atabi will address delegates and provide perspective on how to provide an internationalised student experience, how to deliver a truly international curriculum and develop graduates to be global citizens.

Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi is currently the Senior Deputy Vice-Principal at Heriot-Watt University, Malaysia. His research interests include thermofluids, renewable energy, biomechanical engineering, engineering education and academic leadership. He is an Honorary Chair at the School of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Birmingham (UK) and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Engineering Science & Technology

He is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE) and a member of the Global Engineering Deans Council. He also has numerous research publications, awards and honours. Professor Al-Atabi is an innovative educator, pioneering the Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate (CDIO) educational framework in his curricular planning and assessment and delivered the first MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) in Malaysia. Under his leadership, Taylor’s School of Engineering became the first non US school to have a Grand Challenges Scholar Programme aimed at developing graduates able to address the 14 Grand Challenges for engineers in the 21st Century. He trains executives from Multinational Corporations including banks and energy companies.
