This report, ‘Student perspectives on the changes and developments in higher education’, was produced as part of the Developing and Supporting the Curriculum Enhancement Theme.
In Part 1, this paper considers the Scottish political agenda and social changes, and how these affect the student population. In Part 2 the attitudes of students, particularly relating to finances and motivation to study, customer versus partner, and technology are considered. In the conclusions and discussion, how the above factors need to be considered in developing the curriculum are looked at, with a focus on institutional responses to student demographics, flexible journeys, how students are taught, and student engagement.
