Students

Welcome to the student pages

Improving the experience of students in higher education is at the heart of the Quality Enhancement Framework.

Students play a very important role in the mangement of quality in higher education in Scotland. Students have their own development service, sparqs (student participation in quality scotland), students are also full members of Enhancement Led Institutional Review teams and are increasingly being involved in internal subject review.

So what does the 'quality enhancement' approach actually mean? Well, it's a new way of thinking about the way your degree is taught, managed and resourced. It goes beyond just ensuring that a basic standard is being met, like ensuring you receive clear and adequate information about your courses and how you'll be assessed. Quality enhancement goes beyond just making sure that your tutors and lecturers teach you well - it's a balance between those kinds of things but puts the emphasis on how students experience their degrees. It's not just about teaching anymore but about how you learn, underpinned by the belief that students must play a central role in improving the student experience of University life.
