The First Year

A first event, was held in April 2006. This consultation event included a keynote presentation from Dr Betsy Barefoot, Co-Director, Policy Center on the First Year of College, Brevard, North Carolina.

First Year Activities
Activities have focused on two strands of work, complementing one another: on-going institutional discussions and project work.

Institutional Discussions:
A vital aspect of the work of throughout this Theme was taken forward by the institutional contacts. Each Scottish higher education institution was asked to consider the nature and purposes of the first year in their particular setting. This work was on-going throughout the Theme.
