Integrative Assessment: Activities

Integrative assessment project work is nearing completion and outcomes of the theme were published in February 2007..

The final outcomes reflected the conceptualisation of Integrative Assessment and consisted of the following four guides:

  • MONITORING Students' Experiences of Assessment: strategies to monitor how well assessment in its various manifestations is working, so as to build on achievements and strengths and remedy shortcomings.
  • BLENDING Assignments and Assessments: to match learning goals and foster student progression.
  • MANAGING Assessment Practices and Procedures: the strategies in place to ensure consistency and avoid overloading students and staff.
  • BALANCING Assessment For and Assessment Of Learning : how equable a balance has been struck between formative and summative purposes and needs

There will also be an Integrative Assessment website that will be hosted on the enhancement theme website which will house all the above documents and a downloadable bank of resource materials. These will include case-examples of integrative assessment, discussions of the rationale for/underlying principles of integration in assessment, and practical review and enhancement tools for individuals and course teams. This website is currently under construction.
