Webinar: Creating Cultures of Enhancement, Supporting Programme Leadership
|Date:||November 19 - 2019|
This webinar will be presented by Professor Martha Caddell, Heriot-Watt University and Dr Christine Haddow, Edinburgh Napier University and will take place on Tuesday 19 November 2019 from 12:30 to 13:15. The webinar is free to attend and prior registration is not required.
Programme Leaders are situated at a key enhancement nexus, located between institution-wide policy, individual course policy, and student experience. The higher education data landscape, from this perspective, is complex and challenging.
Programme leaders are key providers, interpreters and users of a vast array of student, course, programme, and institutional evidence. While engaging with data can be a useful bolster for enhancement activities at programme level, the time and skills needed to appropriately engage with the complexity of evidence is not inconsiderable, requiring the negotiation of PLs situated knowledge alongside institutionally-prioritised metrics.
This webinar draws on insights which have emerged from a QAA Scotland-supported collaborative cluster on programme leadership to:
- Critically explore the role of the programme leader in the contemporary university context;
- Map key features of the data landscape, as seen from a PL perspective.
- Identify institutional practice which supports and enhances the role of programme leaders as they navigate the evidence for enhancement landscape.
Participants will be invited to share institutional insights and specific examples of frameworks and practice, should they wish to.
This webinar will take place via Skype for Business. We recommend that you connect at least 10 minutes before the start of the webinar as you may need to download and install a plug-in. Prior registration is not required.
