Keynote - Is embedded employability a pipedream? Practicalities and a new rationale for engaging learners in their future lives and work

Day three of the conference considered how institutions can promote employability and entrepreneurship. It started with a keynote presentation and live Q&A with Professor Dawn Bennett (Curtin University), who asked ‘Is embedded employability a pipedream?’ and shared a new rationale for engaging learners in their future lives and work.


Keynote - Entrepreneurship Education: Learning-by-Doing at the Creative Destruction Lab

For the final keynote presentation, we were joined by Professor Ajay Agrawal (University of Toronto), who shared his experiences of entrepreneurship education and ‘Learning-by-Doing’ at the Creative Destruction Lab, a collaboration of universities around the world. Ajay was then joined in conversation by Professor Sara Carter OBE (University of Glasgow).


Panel discussion - So what is next for the Scottish Sector?

The conference concluded with a provocative and engaging panel discussion titled ‘So what is next for the Scottish sector?’ Chaired by Professor Ruth Taylor (University of Aberdeen), panellists included James Dunphy (Scottish Funding Council), Sir Paul Grice (Queen Margaret University), Alexander Hedlund (Heriot-Watt University) and Professor Sally Mapstone (University of St Andrews). Together, our panellists identified and debated several future priorities for higher education as providers continue to play their part in helping students, the economy and wider society to succeed.
